A simple breathing exercise to help reduce stress over the exam season

The best bit about this breathing exercise is that you can practise it anytime, anywhere. You can be standing, sitting or lying down.

When you are feeling stressed or anxious all you need to do to help calm that feeling is to slowly and quietly inhale counting up to the number 7, then slowly and quietly exhale counting up to the number 11.

Exhaling for a slightly longer time than you inhale will relax your nervous system. Also by focusing on the sensations of your breath in your body you will take your mind off stressful thoughts or feelings.

Don’t forget stress only exists if you allow it to, you can overcome it!
